'Black' Army Ulhans.

Just a quick snapshot of the Prince August Lancer figure . Designed to be a British Lancer,  the uniform is very similar to the German Ulhan . These figures take a lot of metal and weigh - pause as he retreats to the kitchen scales - 7.8 oz or 220 gr . Think I've said it before - these armies will NOT  be cavalry orientated !. ( very nice horses by the way !)

  3. New to your blog. Enjoying the browse. Wargamed in late 60's but not since. Some books left but no troops. This will change as I'm to retire soon with time on my hands. Like your lancers, have you thought of uniforms for these? I'm planning a force based on uniforms of the old Volunteers and Yeomanry. Some of these units were lancers. I shall resurrect the Lincs Ymry, but the London Sharpshooters (may have name wrong, reference packed in box in garage) wore french grey with purple plastron and piping.

  4. I will be painting these Lancers as German 1900's Ulhans to provide cavalry for my 'Black' army for the 'Funny Little Wars' wargames rules. Get a lot of my uniform info from -http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgtitle_tree.cfm?level=1&title_id=269277 which is a wonderful storehouse of uniform info . The 1880-1900 period is a wonderful time for Territorial/Volunteers uniforms . This Lancer mold is realy for British lancers of that period and when I have cast up enough for the Germans (Army Black) I will probably be doing some British as well (Army Red). Welcome back to wargaming , good luck with it . Cheers Tony
