Breaking News !

Just had a Email from Prince August to say they are issuing some new SYW  moulds , above the infantryman mould with choice of heads .

The NCO and Drummer mould.

The Officer and Standard Bearer. These look very good for the home-caster and are more sensible than some of their recent moulds.

  1. That's good news for 40mm fans. I wish they would make some 25mm SYW moulds. Hoping to get some of their fantasy moulds soon anyway.

  2. I foresee the sudden appearance of Prussian fusiliers on home caster's tables around the globe.

  3. Good to see something specifically for the mid-century period rather than more Karoliners. Those drum sticks look like they will be easier to cast and the venting instructions on the web site don't look too bad.

  4. Great news - nice to see they allowed for fusiliers

  5. These look very good. I knew that a fellow caster had been sugesting that PA did these moulds but I did not think they would ever get into production.

It just so happens that I have over 10 kg of metal waiting to be cast up into figures.

  7. Although I don't have a need for 7YW Prussians, this is the best thing PA has done in years. Love the practicality of the poses and head swap potential. The three molds combined will make everything needed for complete infantry battalions. Well done, Prince August !

    1. I agree well done - a Prussian contingent was not on my list - but now I'm very tempted !

    2. Better still - they are working on some march attack figures after they were pointed to 'Castles of Tin'.

    3. Just curious, who pointed Prince August to my blog ? I'd thought about it myself but wasn't sure how they'd react.

I directed him to your site.

Over the last year or so I have built up a good working relationship with PA's designer, and after a while I thought it might be useful for him to see feedback on poses etc.

Historically PA have not seen us as their target market, however with this range they are genuinely trying to make figures useful to gamers as well as their usual ‘casters’.

The poses for the first releases were selected by me based on what I use in my armies (I-903 &904), but with the advancing figure at a higher port (I have asked that the figures rank up on 20x30 bases). If there are problems with the pose selection it is really my fault, not theirs – so bear with them.

They are also working on march attack figures, these should be out in the near future, they are having problems fitting the tall figure in the mould so it may need a separate musket.

Artillery, light troops etc.will be in more active poses as these do not need to rank up.

I think the important thing is that PA are listening to us, and feedback is essential.

PS – can you let me have your email address?

  8. I'm sure PA will be pleased with the positive initial response to the photos. This range of figures is being produced with 'old school' gamers like ourselves in mind, and the figure poses are designed to fit together into units.

PA are intending to considerably expand this range, and are already working on the masters for Austrians (German and Hungarian) and Russian. The initial releases will be for the 'line infantry', and then artillery, light infantry, cavalry etc.

    1. I think I should declare that I have an interest (not financial) in these moulds doing well, as I am the 'fellow caster' Mark Dudley referred to and have spent a lot of time in discussion with PA over the last 10 months regarding the figures and poses to put into the range. If the moulds are popular I think PA will keep expanding the range, I have seen photos of the Hungarian & Russian 'greens', and they are very nice.
(All I initially asked for was some new heads for the Karoliners!)
